about

My work is influenced by places and people and also, sometimes, my dog. Born of a need to create real, tangible things with my hands, I began working with metal over fifteen years ago.

Since, I have apprenticed in the old way of metal- and stonework, under master silversmith and lapidarist, Jerry Titus, whose metal and stonecutting lineage traces to master Navajo silversmith, Ben Yazzie, Sr. and the quiet wilds of Arizona.

While BASAALT was born in the Columbia River Gorge, of meadowlarks and rattlesnakes and grapevine, we now call the redwooded hills of Marin County home. I wish you could smell the salt and eucalyptus here.
